Food #gardening in mini greenhouses

Meeka's Mind

The weather here in Melbourne is bleak and blustery, but we had a few minutes of sunshine earlier on so I raced out with my trusty phone to take these:

The pictures show the mini greenhouses I bought from Bunnings. They come in a flat pack -shiver- but everything fits together quite easily for a change, including the clear plastic ‘cover’ that fits over the frame. The covers go all the way to the floor [but do not ‘seal’ completely]. Access to the inside is via heavy duty zips.

I was skeptical, at first, but I quickly noticed that the interior of the greenhouses is noticeably warmer than the outside air, and visibility is usually low due to condensation on the plastic. I’m not sure how the plants will go in summer conditions, but at the moment I’m only watering a tiny bit, once every 2 weeks or so.

It’s not always easy to feel grateful, especially when the skies are gray and our workload seems never ending. As the day trudges by with the minutes feeling like hours on our mood drops, our shoulders sag and with furrowed brows, we find ourselves wishing for the day to end. But while we are busy wishing away our lives we could be busy reminding ourselves of why we love it, for it is in these moments when reacquainting ourselves with gratefulness is the most important and beneficial.

From Bitcoin to Ethereum

Needull in a haystack

2016-12-20-1482198878-2452631-ethereumandbitcoinwhatsthedifference

These crypto currencies have been hot topic of discussion recently with the success of Ethereum. Today’s needull tries to explain what these are and the differences between Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The Ethereum blockchain is much faster than that of Bitcoin. The delay between two blocks in the bitcoin system is around 12 seconds. The propagation time of a block through the network, understandably, poses de facto new challenges. The Ethereum protocol provides solutions in both cases. Moreover, and this is the great innovation of this platform, one can arbitrarily store data on the blockchain—by which I mean smart-contracts—that are, in fact, programs written in a complete Turing language. There is thus no restriction on the complexity of programs that can be deposited on this particular blockchain.

BITCOIN

There is a great need for a stable currency which can be used by people worldwide, and thus, the Bitcoin was created.
